Beaches Watch meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month at 7pm in the Community Room of the Beaches Branch Library, 600 3rd St., Neptune Beach (unless otherwise stated). The meetings are open to the public and include a guest speaker and discussion of the current issues for our beaches communities.

At the September 6 meeting, April Carney - Duval County School Board Member, District 2 and Interim Superintendent Dr. Dana Kriznar provided a "State of Our Schools" update on our District 2 schools, teacher recruitment and retention, student enrollment, half-cent sales tax update and more. They were joined by Duval Schools staff members Corey Wright and Victoria Schmidt who provided data around accountability, assessments and teacher recruitment. Where Do Your Tax Dollars Go?

The interlocal agreement was created in 1982 after the beach cities fought with the City of Jacksonville over the ways taxes and government services were shared. In 1996, the interlocal agreement was amended after the beaches filed a lawsuit against Jacksonville for breach of the 1982 interlocal agreement. [READ MORE]
