On November 4th, Beaches Watch celebrated our fifth anniversary with a high-rise cake and memorabilia from the first efforts of Beaches Watch.

Five years ago, Beaches Watch was formed to educate and involve citizens in the decisions that affect our beaches quality of life. Our group’s first effort was to sponsor the 35 foot height referendum for Jacksonville Beach. On November 2nd, 76% of voters approved the height limit, so we also celebrated the fifth anniversary of the passage of the Jacksonville Beach height referendum.

Throughout the last five years, the Beaches Watch organization has provided a valuable service to our beaches communities by monitoring issues, researching issues, and educating and involving citizens in the issues that affect our quality of life at the beach. We continue to build positive and productive relationships with our local elected officials. And we are very proud of our track record of professionalism, providing meaningful and factual information to the citizens and elected officials, and organizing and involving citizens to be a part of the solutions to beaches issues.

Through our ongoing efforts, citizens continue to be make a positive difference in the decisions that affect the future of our beach communities. On our fifth anniversary, we are proud to recognize the positive power of citizen involvement!
