20 YEARS OF BEACHES WATCH
1/28/2004 – 1/28/2024
On January 28, 2004, the first meeting of Beaches Watch was held at Fletcher High School with a small group of beaches citizens. This first meeting was initiated after the Jacksonville Beach City Council rejected the proposed development of Beach Marine with 550 condos. So, a small but mighty group of citizens gathered to create Beaches Watch to protect our beaches communities by keeping citizens engaged and informed on the issues impacting our quality of life. 20 years later, we can look back and see that Beaches Watch has done just that!
Since 2004, Beaches Watch has educated and engaged citizens through our monthly meetings and non-partisan candidate forums. Beaches Watch has also made a positive difference in our beaches communities through our Fland Sharp Memorial Scholarship for Fletcher High School Seniors, our annual Friend of the Beaches Award and our annual Give Back donation to support a deserving non-profit that enriches the lives of beaches residents!
As an all-volunteer organization, we couldn’t have done all these things for 20 years without our amazing volunteers, members and supporters! THANK YOU!!!
We look forward to celebrating the 20 years of Beaches Watch on March 6, 2024 and we look forward to continuing to make a difference in our beaches communities in 2024!
