Beaches Watch Monthly Meeting

Meeting topic: The Good, the Bad and the Hopeful of the 2022 Legislative Session

Guest Speakers: Mike Staffopoulos ( Jacksonville Beach City Manager), Stefen Wynn (Neptune Beach City Manager), Kevin Hogencamp (Atlantic Beach Deputy City Manager)

After 60 days of legislative meetings, what did the 2022 Florida legislature accomplish, and how will its actions affect our beach communities? To examine that question, Beaches Watch will host its first in-person community meeting in more than two years on Wednesday, April 6, in the Beaches Public Library.

Mike Staffopoulos (Jacksonville Beach City Manager), Stefen Wynn (Neptune Beach City Manager), and Kevin Hogencamp (Atlantic Beach Deputy City Manager) will help the audience understand the impact legislative action during the 2022 Legislative Session will have on their lives. Expected topics include smoking at public beaches and parks, tree protection, short-term rentals, business damage claims against cities, and the state climate change resiliency office.

“This meeting will give our citizens an in-depth understanding of what happened in our legislative session and the opportunity to ask questions following the presentations. We are very excited to be meeting in person, but encourage our attendees to wear masks and remain socially distant,” said Maria Mark, president of Beaches Watch.
