Jacksonville Beach, FL (December 5, 2012) – Lend An Ear Outreach, recipient of the 3rd Annual Beaches Watch “Give-Back” donation, was presented a $1,000 donation at the Beaches Watch meeting on Wednesday, December 5 at 7pm in the Community Room of the Beaches Branch Library, 600 3rd St., Neptune Beach.  Lend An Ear Outreach representatives were in attendance to receive the donation and made a very informative presentation about the Lend An Ear Outreach program.

Lend An Ear Outreach, Inc. (“Lend An Ear”) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to make the gift of hearing available to all low income people, beginning with seniors in our Beaches community.  Because Medicare does not cover the cost of hearing aids, many seniors are rendered helpless because they cannot hear and cannot afford the cost of hearing aids.  Additionally, hearing loss has been linked with a variety of medical, social and cognitive ills, including dementia and Alzheimer’s. To address this problem, Lend An Ear collects donated, used hearing aids and the hearing aids are recast and fitted to qualified seniors with the help of local caring audiologists who volunteer their services.  Thanks to the organization’s efforts, Lend An Ear Outreach is able to provide hearing aids to those that qualify for a minimum cost of $95 per hearing aid.  Anyone interested in helping Lend An Ear Outreach can make a monetary donation or find a drop box location to donate used hearing aids at www.lendanearoutreach.org.

The Beaches Watch annual “Give-Back” donation supports outstanding nonprofit organizations that help enrich the quality of life of beaches residents.  “Beaches Watch is proud to present this ‘Give-Back’ donation to Lend An Ear Outreach to show our appreciation for all they are doing to enhance the quality of life for hearing impaired beaches citizens.  With this donation of $1,000, Beaches Watch is especially proud to help Lend An Ear Outreach provide hearing to as many as ten hearing impaired residents,” said Beaches Watch President Sandy Golding.
