Beaches Watch Monthly Meeting

Guest Speaker: Scott Dudley, Florida League of Cities, Director of Field Advocacy

The Florida 2023 Legislative Session will begin March 7 and will continue until May 5. Hundreds of bills are being filed, and some of them are concerning for Florida municipalities and our beach communities. Our legislators represent us and need to hear from us before voting on legislation. Beaches Watch will be hosting a meeting Wednesday, March 1 at 7pm at the Beaches Museum Chapel, 525 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville Beach to help you learn about the concerning bills and what YOU can do to make your voice heard.

Scott Dudley, Director of Field Advocacy with the Florida League of Cities, will discuss the bills that are most concerning for our local governments, the League’s grassroots advocacy effort called Local Voices United, and how you can become a part of this important grassroots advocacy effort to make your voices heard during the 2023 Legislative Session. Mr. Dudley is expected to update us on bills addressing vacation rentals, affordable housing, homestead tax exemptions and changes to land development regulations. His unvarnished and forthright review of proposed laws and regulations that will impact our quality of life at the beaches will inspire questions and discussion.
