Are you prepared for hurricane season? Would you like to know how our beach Emergency Operation Centers have prepared and what you can do to help yourself and your family? Do you need information about insurance preparedness? Beaches Watch will hold its next monthly community meeting on the opening day of the 2022 hurricane season, Wednesday, June 1 in the Beaches Branch Public Library, 600 Third Street, Neptune Beach, FL. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. and adjourn at 8 p.m.

Guest speakers will include beaches emergency operations representatives, Jacksonville Beach Fire Marshal Steve Sciotto, Police Chief Richard Pike, and Police Chief Vic Gualillo, who will share updates how the beach cities have prepared for the 2022 hurricane season. Longtime insurance agent (and former Jacksonville City Councilman) Jim Love will join the panel to share practical information about insurance preparedness. More specifically, the panelists will be able to address issues and questions about sheltering in and/or vacating the beaches, resources at hand for beach residents, distinctive features of the beaches like particularly dangerous areas prone to flooding, and what residents need to do to protect their families, their pets and themselves.

Beaches Watch President Maria Mark said, “ Even if you are a long-time beach resident or just moved here, this meeting will provide important information about how to be prepared and what to do before and after the storm. We have been very fortunate in past years, but you can never be overly prepared when it comes to hurricanes and tropical storms.”

We will also be holding a drawing at the end of the meeting for the early-bird members who renewed or joined during last year’s 4^th quarter (Oct-Dec).

Questions can be submitted in advance via email to  info@beacheswatch.com no later than May 30. The audience will have the opportunity pose questions to the panelists the night of June 1, as well.
