Jacksonville Beach, FL (November 9, 2010) – On November 9, 2010, Dial-A-Ride representatives were presented a $1,000 donation as the recipient of the inaugural Beaches Watch “Give-Back” donation. The donation was presented to Dial-A-Ride president Bennie Furlong by Beaches Watch President Sandy Golding at the Bennie Furlong Senior Center, 281 19th Ave. S., Jacksonville Beach.
This year, the Beaches Watch Board of Directors established an annual Beaches Watch “Give-Back” donation to support outstanding organizations that help enrich the quality of life of beaches residents. For the inaugural donation, the board of directors unanimously voted that Dial-A-Ride was deserving of this donation.
Dial-A-Ride is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that provides transportation for nearly 500 seniors and disabled beaches residents who otherwise would have no means of transportation. Providing over 7,000 trips yearly, Dial-A-Ride allows these residents to maintain their independence and dignity, greatly enriching their quality of life. Dial-A-Ride provides safe, reliable transportation to and from many destinations including doctor appointments, banks, Mayo Clinic, Baptist Beaches Hospital, beauty shops, nursing homes, library, grocery stores, drug stores and the post office.
